Welcome to
The Old Shop in Å
The Fishing Village Museum has taken over the running of the grocer’s
shop in Å, in premises from 1843. The old timber walls have been
uncovered and the premises have been renovated. We combine our museum
reception desk with the running of the shop and can therefore stay open
all year round.
Shop opening times :
DECEMBER 2012:
Monday-Thursday 11:00 – 15:00
Fridays 11:00 – 19:00
Saturdays 11 – 15 .
JANUARY - MAY 2012:
Monday-Friday 10:00-17:00
Saturdays 10:00-15:00.
The Norwegian Fishing Village Museum:

(groups can book guiding any day of the week)
“The Old Shop in Å” will specialise in locally made food and
products. In addition to ordinary groceries, we stock Lofoten Chocolate
(from Værøy), Margrete’s Cosmetics (Leknes), cheeses Saupstad Farm
Cheese Factory and Aalan Farm), spices and tea (Judith’s Herb Garden),
berry syrup (Reisa), cured cod, stockfish, lutefisk and split cod …
(Yngve Olsen, Sørvågen), ceramics (from Værøy), photographs of Lofoten
signed by Arnt Sneve – in addition to bookshop, clothing, fishing
tackle, souvenirs, home-made cod-liver oil paint …
